Works and artists

A concert is more than a date and a hall. Who was on stage, and what did they play? That's what artists and works are for.

Artists

An artist is a name, optionally with an instrument or role: Iván Fischer (conductor), Patricia Kopatchinskaja (violin). You add them in the Artists block on the concert form — who performed at this item?

Names are reused across your box. Type an artist you've entered before and MyCultBox links the concert to that same artist instead of creating a duplicate. A list builds itself that way, so years later you can look up how often you saw the same conductor. Change the instrument and it changes everywhere that artist appears.

Works

A work is a piece that was performed: a title, and usually a composer. You fill them in under Works — which works were performed? Those are reused per box too, on title and composer together, so Shostakovich — Symphony No. 5 stays one entry no matter how often you hear it.

Where they come from

You type them in yourself, or you let MyCultBox analyze the event page when creating the concert — then the artists and works listed on that page are filled in for you. Pull the setlist from Setlist.fm later and you get the songs that were played; those are separate from your works list.

Finding them again

Artists and works are searchable. Search for a name or a composer and they come back as results of their own in the search bar, linked to a concert they belong to. See Searching your library.

Only concerts get these two blocks. On albums the artist simply lives in the album's own metadata.
